Thanksgiving Week Storm Disrupts East Coast Travel Plans

A disruptive storm system is sweeping across the eastern US ahead of Thanksgiving, causing severe thunderstorms, heavy rain, and snow. At least two dozen states, including major travel hubs, will experience adverse weather during the busiest travel days of the year. This may lead to disruptions at airports in Atlanta, New York City, Boston, and Washington, DC. However, the storm is expected to subside by Wednesday, allowing for a dry Thanksgiving day in much of the central and eastern US. Widespread rainfall of 1 to 3 inches is possible, with some areas receiving over 4 inches. There is also a risk of severe thunderstorms and damaging wind gusts, as well as worsening fire weather in the Appalachians. Northern New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire may see a wintry mix of rain, sleet, and snow, with accumulating snow in high-elevation areas. Thanksgiving Day will be cooler and largely dry, but a new storm will bring snow to the Rockies.
