Colorado's Front Range and Eastern Plains have experienced historic precipitation due to a trough of low pressure system that has been parked over the middle part of the country. The heavy rain has caused flooding and leaky roofs, but it has also helped lower the risk of wildfire and benefited the agricultural areas of eastern Colorado, which have struggled with drought. Climate change is expected to bring longer dry periods punctuated by more intense rain in between.
