Unusual Christmas Weather: Record Warmth and Rainy Forecast

The National Weather Service's Twin Cities office shared an adorable graphic on Twitter showcasing the snow history of the Twin Cities over the past 70 years. Out of that timeframe, Minnesota has experienced snow-free Christmases 14 times, while a Christmas with no snow on the ground but snowfall on the day itself has occurred only three times. However, residents of the metro area have enjoyed a snow-covered Christmas Day 75% of the time, with snow depths ranging from 1-3 inches to over 3 feet. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Minnesota has a high probability of having a snowy Christmas, with the southern half of the state experiencing it about 70% of the time and the northern half about 90% of the time.
