Giant Alligator Spotted Swimming Near Alabama Beach

Beach-goers in Alabama were surprised to see a massive alligator swimming along the shore of the Gulf of Mexico. The reptile, which was captured on video, did not charge or hiss at anyone. Alligators are not commonly seen in the ocean because they do not have salt water glands. The alligator may have wandered off from a nearby bird sanctuary before finding its way into the ocean waters. The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources advises people to never feed or approach an alligator.
