Off-the-shelf cartilage scaffold guides bone regrowth

Researchers at Lund University created a cell-free cartilage scaffold by decellularizing cartilage to leave the extracellular matrix and growth signals, forming a ready-made graft that steers the body’s own cells to repair bone. Demonstrated in animal models with minimal immune reaction, the approach is moving toward human trials and larger-scale production.
