NASA's OSIRIS-REx Mission Discovers Carbon and Water-Rich Asteroid Sample

NASA's OSIRIS-REx mission successfully delivered pieces of the asteroid Bennu to Earth, revealing that the sample is rich in carbon and water. This is the largest carbon-rich asteroid sample ever collected and will provide valuable insights into the origins of life on Earth. The sample will be distributed to researchers for further analysis, including the identification of carbon compounds that could shed light on the beginnings of life. Additionally, studying Bennu will help scientists understand the formation and evolution of our solar system. The OSIRIS-REx spacecraft will continue its mission to study another asteroid called Apophis in 2029.
