New study reveals surprising age of Saturn's rings.

Saturn's rings are much younger than previously thought, with a new estimate of no older than 400 million years, compared to Saturn itself which is around 4.5 billion years old. Researchers arrived at this estimate by studying the build-up of dust around the gas giant planet. The rings are being pulled back into the planet due to its gravity, and astronomers are unsure how much longer they will last. The team's work was based on data collected from 2004 to 2017 with the Cosmic Dust Analyzer aboard NASA's Cassini spacecraft.
