Catch a glimpse of dwarf planet Ceres during tonight's new moon

The dwarf planet Ceres will be visible during the new moon on March 21, 2023, in an arrangement astronomers call "opposition." Ceres will be a star-like point of light, even through a telescope, and will be in the constellation of Coma Berenices. Ceres will also be in perigee, meaning the dwarf planet will be at its brightest. Ceres is the largest object in the main asteroid belt and has the distinction of being the only dwarf planet in the inner solar system.
