China's Zhurong rover has failed to revive itself from hibernation mode on Mars due to an accumulation of dust on its solar panels, according to a mission designer. The rover went into hibernation mode in May 2022 and was scheduled to wake up in late December, but has not yet done so. The Martian dust may have blocked the rover's solar panels and prevented it from exiting its safe mode.
