The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has announced that E3, the long-running Electronic Entertainment Expo, is officially dead. The last in-person conference was held in 2019, and subsequent attempts to revive the event in various formats were unsuccessful. ESA president and CEO Stanley Pierre-Louis stated that the closure of E3 allows major game companies to create their own showcases, exploring new ways to engage audiences.
