NASA has developed an AI-powered system called DAGGER that can predict solar storms 30 minutes in advance, but this may not be enough time to prepare for a devastating blackout. Solar storms can knock out the internet and power for hours, and people can now take steps to prepare for an extreme solar event, such as creating a survival kit and having printed copies of digital documents. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has shared ways to prepare for an extreme solar storm, including filling plastic containers with water and keeping the car tank at least half full.
