Firefly Aerospace Successfully Tests New Rocket Engine with Green Flames

Firefly Aerospace has successfully conducted the first hot fire test of its new Miranda rocket engine, which produced a plume of green flames. The engine is set to be used on Northrop Grumman's Antares 330 rocket and the Medium Launch Vehicle (MLV) they are developing together. The Antares 330 is designed to carry over 22,000 lbs of cargo to the International Space Station, while the MLV will be capable of lifting 35,000 lbs of payload to low Earth orbit. The new rocket is expected to enhance rapid launch capabilities and is scheduled for its first flight in mid-2025. Firefly Aerospace is also developing a moon lander called the Blue Ghost for a NASA mission in 2026.
