"Humanoid Robots: The Future of Mars Exploration and Employment"

NASA has partnered with Austin-based startup Apptronik to develop humanoid robots that could assist astronauts on future missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond. The robots, such as the current model called Apollo, are modular and can have different levels of dexterity and autonomy depending on the tasks they need to perform. While currently used for Earth-bound activities, the robots could be used for more adventurous pursuits in outer space, such as exploring caves or subsurface pits. The collaboration aims to provide NASA with an edge in establishing a permanent presence on the lunar surface or Mars.
