California Children Take Legal Action Against EPA for Climate Crisis

Eighteen children from California are suing the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), alleging that the agency violated their constitutional rights by failing to protect them from the impacts of climate change. The lawsuit, called Genesis B. v. United States Environmental Protection Agency, highlights the personal experiences of the plaintiffs, ranging from extreme heat days to wildfires and flooding. The case argues that the EPA's allowance of carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels has contributed to the warming climate, posing a threat to children's health. The lawsuit seeks declarations about children's environmental rights and the EPA's responsibility to protect them.
