"US Conducts Retaliatory Airstrikes in Iraq and Syria Following Drone Attacks"

The US military launched air strikes on over 85 targets in Iraq and Syria used by Iranian-backed militias and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, in response to a drone strike that killed three US troops in Jordan. President Biden stated that the strikes will continue at times and places of their choosing. The strikes appeared to avoid directly targeting Iran or senior leaders of the Revolutionary Guard Quds Force within its borders. Iran has denied involvement in the Jordan attack, and some Iran-backed militias have suspended attacks on US forces, while others have vowed to continue. The US has also bolstered defenses at the base in Jordan that was attacked, and imposed new sanctions on firms in Iran and Hong Kong accused of assisting Iran procure technology for ballistic weapons and drones.
