Xi and Putin discuss China's peace proposal for Ukraine, but no breakthrough achieved.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin met in Moscow and pledged friendship and economic cooperation between their countries, while criticizing the West. However, there was no sign of a diplomatic breakthrough over Ukraine. Putin praised Xi's peace plan for Ukraine, but Xi barely mentioned the conflict. Meanwhile, Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida made a surprise visit to Kyiv to show solidarity with Ukraine, touring Bucha, where Russian troops killed civilians last year. The US criticized Xi's visit to Moscow, just three days after the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for Putin's arrest on war crime charges.
