International Collaboration: NASA's Moon Landing Mission to Include Non-American Astronaut, Announced by Harris

Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to announce during a National Space Council meeting that the United States will include a non-American astronaut in its upcoming moon landing mission. This move aims to build an international coalition in space to counter China's similar initiative. The addition of an international astronaut could enhance collaboration and resolve unintended interference among partners. The Artemis III mission, scheduled for December 2025 but potentially delayed until 2027, will involve four astronauts, two of whom will land on the moon. The lucky country to participate in the mission is yet to be determined, but France has expressed interest in the past. The announcement will be made in front of representatives from the 33 countries that have signed on to NASA's Artemis Accords, which aim to establish peaceful practices in orbit.
