NASA's OSIRIS-REx Returns to Earth with Asteroid Sample

NASA's OSIRIS-REx spacecraft will pass Earth this weekend, bringing back a sample from the asteroid Bennu. Italian astrophysicist Gianluca Masi and his Virtual Telescope Project will attempt to livestream the event, marking the first time NASA has collected material from an asteroid and brought it home. The livestream is set to start at 7 p.m. EDT on Saturday. After the sample is returned, it will be cataloged and analyzed for two years, with at least 75% of it preserved for future research. The spacecraft will then head to the near-Earth asteroid Apophis.
