California Braces for Back-to-Back Storms, Flash Flooding Threats
Southern California is facing a serious flood risk as a second, stronger storm system brings heavy rain to the region throughout the week. The storm, carrying an unusually high amount of moisture, is expected to cause flash flooding and mudslides. The heaviest rainfall is forecasted for Wednesday, stretching from the Bay Area to the Los Angeles area, while heavy snowfall is expected in the Sierra Nevada mountains. On Thursday, the storm will move south, soaking the Los Angeles area with several inches of rain and increasing the risk of flash flooding. Rainfall totals could reach 5-8 inches in the mountains and 2-4 inches across the coast and valleys of Southern California.
