Tropical Storm Ophelia Threatens East Coast with Heavy Rain and Wind

Potential Tropical Storm Ophelia, currently located off the southeast coastline, could bring heavy rainfall to Massachusetts and other areas along the East Coast. The storm is expected to strengthen and make landfall in coastal North Carolina before moving northward. Tropical storm warnings are in effect, with concerns of storm surge, coastal and inland flooding. Current forecasts predict at least 3-to-6 inches of rain in many areas between North Carolina and the Mid-Atlantic, with the potential for 1-3 inches in southern New England. The highest risk of steady and heavy rain is expected on Saturday and Sunday.
