Hope Endures for Trapped Nepal Hydro Workers After Glacier-Triggered Flood

Rescuers in Nepal say 46 workers may still be alive after a week trapped in a tunnel at the Rasuwagadhi hydropower project following glacier-triggered floods. So far 279 people have been rescued, but about 639 remain missing as teams from Nepal, India, China, Korea and Australia continue to search hydro project tunnels and air-filled spaces. The disaster has killed at least 1,204 and left more than 4,200 missing across the region, with authorities focusing on tunnels and dry pockets as the most likely survival sites.
