EU Neighbors Ban Ukrainian Grain Imports to Protect Local Agriculture

Poland and Hungary's plans to suspend imports of Ukrainian grain to appease farmers hit by falling prices have triggered a warning from Brussels and increased tensions between the two countries and the EU. The prices of grain in both countries have dropped since the EU scrapped duties and quotas on Ukrainian grain imports last year. The restrictions were removed after Ukraine's grain exports were redirected westward over land to Europe following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which cut off ports to traditional maritime export routes.
