OMA co-founder Elia Zenghelis dies at 89, leaving a lasting architectural legacy

Greek architect Elia Zenghelis, co-founder of OMA, has died at 89; a key educator and designer who helped launch OMA in 1975, shaped its early radical work, led Gigantes Zenghelis Architects, and taught at the AA and other leading schools. His career also included influential projects such as the Dutch Parliament Extension (1978) and Parc de la Villette (1982); Rem Koolhaas called him essential to OMA’s existence.
