McDonald's Faces Tomato Shortage Crisis

McDonald's outlets in India have temporarily removed tomatoes from their menu due to the "non-availability" of high-grade tomatoes, as prices of the vegetable have soared. The fast-food giant's north and east India outlets cited crop issues and stringent quality checks as reasons for the shortage. While McDonald's west and south India outlets are not facing a serious tomato-related issue, 10-15% of their stores have temporarily stopped serving tomatoes due to seasonal problems. McDonald's is exploring sustainable agriculture practices, including hydroponically grown tomatoes, to mitigate future crop risks. Other fast-food chains in India continue to offer tomatoes in their menu.
