Unilever Allows Conscription of Russian Employees

Unilever, the consumer goods giant, has confirmed that it will comply with Russian legislation that allows for the conscription of its employees in the event of war in Ukraine. The company, which owns brands such as Dove and Ben & Jerry's, has faced criticism for continuing to do business in Russia despite international sanctions. Unilever stated that it has chosen to continue operating in Russia to avoid the risk of its business being taken over by the Russian state, but it will keep this decision under review. The company has halted capital flows, imports, exports, and advertising in Russia since the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
