Australia and Tuvalu have signed a bilateral treaty, the Australia-Tuvalu Falepili Union, which includes provisions for security, migration, and climate change. Australia has pledged to create a special mobility pathway for Tuvaluans to work, study, and live in Australia, with an initial cap of 280 people per year. Tuvalu, a small island nation with a population of just over 11,000, is highly vulnerable to climate change and rising sea levels.
