Gaza's Communication Infrastructure Plunges into Darkness Amid Ongoing Conflict

Phone and internet networks in the Gaza Strip went dark for the second time in less than a week as the conflict between Israel and Hamas continues. The Palestine Telecommunications Company (Paltel) confirmed the blackout, which was also verified by global network monitor Netblocks. The disruption severely impacts communication for residents, and attempts to reach Gaza residents by phone were unsuccessful. While services reportedly began to be restored after several hours, it remains unclear when full capabilities will be reached. The blackout has also hindered humanitarian aid agencies' work in an already dire situation in Gaza.
