Sudan's War Escalates: Air Strikes and Heavy Fighting in Khartoum.

Air strikes hit the outskirts of Khartoum as Sudan's war enters its sixth week, with no end in sight. The conflict between Sudan's army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has led to a collapse in law and order with looting that both sides blame the other for. The fighting has displaced almost 1.1 million people internally and into neighbouring countries, and has resulted in a humanitarian crisis. The situation is relatively calm in Khartoum, although sporadic gunshots can be heard. The conflict began on April 15 and has resulted in 705 deaths and at least 5,287 injuries.
