Sudan's warring factions agree to ceasefire and potential negotiations.

The Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces have agreed to a seven-day ceasefire and to send representatives for peace talks, according to a statement from the foreign ministry of South Sudan. The UN’s refugee agency has warned that more than 800,000 people may flee to neighbouring countries as the ongoing violence stifles evacuation convoys from key ports in Sudan. The violence flared this week in West Darfur, where the two warring generals Burhan and Dagalo both have history, having played key roles in the counterinsurgency against rebels in the region’s civil war that began in 2003.
