Ukrainian soldiers continue to hold their positions in the battlefield city of Bakhmut, despite being exhausted and under constant attack from Russian forces. The ongoing fighting is described as a "continuous dynamic process" by Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar. The soldiers are in need of advanced artillery and ammunition to match and outgun the Russian forces. The city of Bakhmut holds little strategic value but has acquired political significance as both sides continue the bloodiest infantry battle since World War II.
