Eleven charged in North Queensland teen-torture case tied to a tree

Eleven people have been charged in North Queensland over the alleged torture of a 17-year-old boy found tied to a tree in bushland off Cape Pallarenda Rd at Town Common. The new arrests expand an earlier case, with offences including deprivation of liberty, assaults occasioning bodily harm while armed/in company, grievous bodily harm and torture. The defendants range from a 13-year-old Deeragun boy and a 14-year-old Kirwan girl to multiple adults aged 24–40, with some charged under the Youth Justice Act. The victim required surgical intervention and police describe the attack as coordinated. Investigations are ongoing, and those charged will appear in Townsville Magistrates Court.
