Israel and Cyprus to Construct Natural Gas Pipeline and Processing Plant.

Cyprus and Israel are in talks to build a pipeline that will transport natural gas from both countries to Cyprus, where it will be liquefied for export to Europe and other markets. The pipeline could be completed in 18 months, while the liquefaction plant will take 2.5 years to build. The project is a truncated version of the EastMed pipeline idea, which has fallen out of favor. The two countries will need to negotiate a separate agreement on how much gas from the Cypriot Aphrodite gas field falls within neighboring Israeli waters.
