Russia and Turkey inaugurate joint nuclear power plant.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan have unveiled the loading of fuel into the first reactor at Turkey's Russia-built Akkuyu nuclear power plant. The plant, which has been under construction since 2018, will have four reactors with a total capacity of 4,800 megawatts. The project has been complicated by sanctions imposed on Russia by the West for its invasion of Ukraine. Erdogan has maintained good relations with Putin by refusing to sign up to Western sanctions on Russia.
