"Exploring the Hidden World of Cities: Book Reviews"

Cities are home to a diverse range of wildlife, including crows, raccoons, coyotes, and even peregrine falcons. As industrial agriculture and urban/suburban development continue to squeeze animals out of their natural habitats, many are migrating to cities for refuge. Two new books, "Secret Life of the City" and "Urban Jungle," argue that the keystone of biodiversity in the 21st century resides not in farmland or nature preserves, but in cities. By re-wilding our perceptions of the seemingly unnatural spaces we’ve built around us, we can begin to save our world and the creatures that share it with us.
