Tunisia Implements Overnight Water Cuts Amid Drought

Tunisia will cut off water supplies to citizens for seven hours a night due to the country's worst drought on record, with the water being cut off daily from 9 p.m until 4 a.m. The agriculture ministry has introduced a quota system for potable water and banned its use in agriculture until Sept. 30. The drought in the country is unprecedented due to the scarcity of rain during four consecutive years, and the country's dam capacity has dropped to around 1 billion cubic meters, or 30% of the maximum.
