Hantavirus Outbreak on MV Hondius Claims Three Lives at Sea

A suspected hantavirus outbreak aboard the Atlantic cruise MV Hondius has killed three people and sickened several others (one confirmed case and five suspected). The first two fatalities were a 70-year-old man and his 69-year-old wife evacuated to South Africa; a 69-year-old British passenger remains in intensive care, and a third death occurred aboard the ship as WHO coordinates evacuations and authorities weigh further isolation for additional ill passengers as the vessel approaches Cape Verde.
