U.S. General Urges Swift Action for Ukraine's Counteroffensive

The US military's top soldier, General Mark Milley, has warned that Ukraine has around a month left to push back Russian troops from captured territory before the weather halts their progress. Ukraine's forces have been launching operations along their front lines, with recent success in the south towards the Russian-occupied city of Melitopol and the Sea of Azov. However, the counteroffensive has been slower than intended, and worsening weather conditions, including the muddy season known as rasputitsa, could hinder Ukraine's efforts. Despite the challenges, there is a realistic possibility that Ukraine could break through Russia's defensive lines in southern Ukraine by the end of the year.
