TL;DR

Egypt has warned Israel that their 1979 peace treaty could be at stake over a border conflict, with officials stating that if even one Palestinian refugee crosses over into Egyptian territory, the peace agreement will be nullified. The warning comes amid fears of a mass influx of refugees from Gaza into Egypt's Rafah area. Egypt strongly opposes Israeli military activity in the buffer zone and Rafah due to concerns about Palestinian refugees fleeing the fighting. Negotiations between Israel and Egypt are reportedly closer to an agreement on these issues.
