Both sides must work together to achieve results and cannot rely on "autopilot" to make it happen. Tensions between the two countries remain high, but they agree that maintaining dialogue is beneficial and necessary. The meeting would be part of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit and discussions included issues such as U.S. export controls, China's actions in the East and South China seas, military exchanges, and crises in the Middle East and Ukraine.
