China's role in Saudi-Iran deal: Realistic or overstated?

China should be realistic about its power to broker deals in the Middle East, despite its recent success in helping to restore diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran, according to former Chinese special envoy for Middle East affairs, Wu Sike. While the agreement will improve the atmosphere in the region, it is difficult to say that all problems can be solved, he said. China's primary interests in the region remain economic, with Saudi Arabia and Iran being its top sources of oil and largest trading partners.
