Chinese Diplomat Meets Hamas Leader Amid Israel-Gaza Conflict

Chinese diplomat Wang Kejian met with Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Qatar, following visits to Israel and the West Bank, marking the first known envoy Beijing has sent to either location since the outbreak of the war in Gaza. The meeting focused on the Gaza conflict and other issues, with Haniyeh emphasizing the need to stop the aggression and achieve the political goals of establishing an independent Palestinian state. China has been increasingly vocal in its opposition to the Gaza war and has pledged to work towards a comprehensive, just, and lasting settlement of the Palestinian question based on a two-state solution.
