"EU Considers Sanctions on Chinese Companies Tied to Russia Amid Opposition from China"

The European Union is reportedly considering sanctions against three Chinese companies and one Indian business due to their ties to Russia, marking the first time the bloc has targeted Chinese and Indian firms since the invasion of Ukraine. The EU is also looking at companies based in Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Turkey, and Thailand, with a draft proposal aiming to ban business dealings with these entities over concerns of aiding the Kremlin in its war in Ukraine. This move comes as the EU, US, and other Western countries have previously imposed multiple sanctions on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine, while China and India have increased their purchases of Russian crude.
