EU Implements Import Ban on Russian Diamonds in New Round of Sanctions

The European Union has adopted a new round of sanctions on Russia, including an import ban on Russian diamonds, in an effort to reduce Russia's access to revenues, metals, and technology used to sustain its war effort in Ukraine. The ban covers natural and synthetic diamonds, as well as diamonds cut in other countries. The package also extends restrictions on technology exports to Russia and seeks better enforcement of previous sanctions on Russian oil exports.
