Germany Plans Indo-Pacific Naval Deployment in 2024.

Germany's Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore that the country will send a frigate and a supply ship to the Indo-Pacific in 2024 to protect maritime passages and the rules-based international order. Pistorius emphasized that the deployment is not directed against any nation, but rather for the benefit of all. Germany's move comes amid rising tensions between China and Taiwan and over the disputed South China Sea, where China claims almost the entire area as its own.
