IAEA Urges Russia and Ukraine to Prevent Severe Nuclear Accident at Zaporizhzhya Power Plant

The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has outlined five principles to prevent a nuclear accident in Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict. The principles include protecting the physical integrity of facilities, ensuring all safety and security systems are functional, maintaining a secure off-site power supply, protecting essential structures from attacks or sabotage, and avoiding actions that undermine these principles. The IAEA will monitor these principles through its on-site mission. The Director General urged both sides to observe these principles and called on the Security Council to support them.
