"Iran's Direct Involvement in Houthi Ship Attacks Confirmed by US Navy"
TL;DR
The U.S. Navy's Vice Adm. Brad Cooper confirmed Iran's direct involvement in ship attacks by Yemen's Houthi rebels, expanding beyond the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, posing a significant international threat. The attacks, linked to Israel's war with Hamas, have targeted merchant shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, impacting global trade routes. The U.S. has conducted airstrikes on Houthi military sites, while Iran continues to fund, supply, and train the rebels. The situation echoes tensions from the 1980s Tanker War, raising concerns of a wider regional conflict.
