Israel and Spain-Belgium Relations Strained Over Gaza Remarks and Indiscriminate Deaths

Israel has accused the leaders of Spain and Belgium of making "false statements" in support of terrorism after they criticized Israel's attacks on civilians in the Gaza Strip. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and Belgian leader Alexander De Croo condemned the indiscriminate killing of innocent civilians and called for more humanitarian aid. Israel's Foreign Minister Eli Cohen criticized their remarks and said he would summon the Spanish and Belgian ambassadors for admonishment. Both European leaders have previously condemned Hamas' attack on Israel but have also pushed for a humanitarian cease-fire and the recognition of a Palestinian state.
