Putin Admits to Placing Nuclear Weapons in Belarus as Warning to the West

Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed that nuclear warheads have been delivered to Belarus, the first outside Russia since the fall of the Soviet Union, as a warning to the West about arming and supporting Ukraine. The US has made no adjustments to its nuclear posture following the deployment and denounced Putin's comments that Moscow could "theoretically" use nuclear weapons if there was a threat to its territorial integrity or existence. Talks with the West to reduce Russia's vast nuclear arsenal were a non-starter, Putin said.
