Russia Deploys Nuclear Weapons to Belarus and Warns US Against Criticism

Russia has started moving nuclear weapons to Belarus, which shares a border with Ukraine, according to Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. The move follows an agreement signed by Russian and Belarusian defense ministers about the placement of Russian tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. The Kremlin will remain in control of what Russia reports are nonstrategic weapons. Lukashenko assured that the weapons would be safe in his country, but the US State Department condemned the agreement, and exiled Belarusian opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya warned that it would endanger the lives of Belarusians and create a new threat against Ukraine and all of Europe.
