Sri Lanka considers Indian rupee for local transactions

Sri Lanka is considering accepting the Indian rupee for local transactions, similar to the dollar, euro, and yen, in order to facilitate Indian tourists and businessmen. This move would eliminate the need for multiple currency conversions. The two countries have also agreed to enhance trade and transactions through digital payments and have signed agreements for port connectivity and development. Sri Lanka is open to collaborating with India on various projects and is exploring the possibility of an Indian university assisting with digitalization efforts.
